MY RESEARCH INTERESTS


Empirical research: Phylogenetic systematics and morphology of Hymenoptera:

• I have been working on the following projects:
          * Simultaneous analysis of Hymenoptera
          * Simultaneous analysis of basal Hymenoptera (sawflies).
          * Simultaneous analysis of Tenthredinoidea
          * Phylogenetic systematics of Cimbicidae
          * Comparative and functional morphology and evolution of the male
             reproductive organs of Hymenoptera
          * Terminology of the male genitalia

• I used these character systems for the simultaneous analyses:
          * DNA sequences
         * Male reproductive system
          * Tarsal plantulae
          * Other morphology

• To find and code the characters, I used these techniques:
          * Dissection, documented with ink drawings and digital photography
          * Scanning electron microscopy
          * DNA sequencing
